This is "When we were very young" From the Notebook titled "Demorest
Kids" compiled by
Marjorie Jean Demorest Winans. (The original of this is teeny:
about 1 and a half inches square.)
This is a picture from (Vicky's guess) about 1936.
Parents: Byron Peter Demorest (9/27/1895-2/19/1955), Minerva Gladys
Heine Demorest (3/9/1899-1/25/1975), Children L to R: Marjorie
Jean Demorest, Allan Frederick Demorest, Byron Howard Demorest
This file is kind of big (49K), but I think it's
worth it. It's 3-in-1 with notes added (Marj's notes, my transcription
from the album into a Photoshop text box):
Grandma Heine with children and grandchildren* (1923)
(Children's names are in italics, grandchildren
have an asterisk*)
More grandchildren (1925)
and still more grandchildren (1940).
This one is Grandma Lydia Carolina Babb Heine - b.3/7/1856 - d.5/28/1947
A reasonable educated guess (only because I am a reasonably educated
person) on the year is 1874.
A second opinion (Thanks, Emily!) is a couple of years earlier -
this may be her confirmation picture, which would make the year about 1870
or 1872. Also, the purple bow is in the original picture - I believe either
the photographer added the splash of color, or someone else over the last
125 years did it - Maybe Grandma Heine herself!.
